The Best Coffee Shops to Visit in Carlsbad | Beachly Bites

Hey there, sunshine! Brooke here and let me tell you, now that we’re past the excitement and rush that comes from heading into a New Year, I’ve been needing a little daily pick me up to keep the energy going. I’m not talking rosé this time, I’m talking all things coffee! Whether it’s a nice frothy latte or creamy matcha drink, I’m always excited for a stop at the local cafes here in Carlsbad. Luckily for me, the Beachly HQ is surrounded by some of the best coffee shops in San Diego and I am so excited to share some of my favorite spots with you! 

Whether you’re local to the area or are planning a trip and looking for some great recommendations, I’m here to help. Let’s jump right in!

Bound Coffee Company

We’re starting reeeal close to home on this one, Beachly babes. Luckily for me and the rest of the Beachly team, our office sits right on top of one of my favorite spots to grab a latte - Bound Coffee Company. Not only is it conveniently located, but I can say their lattes and pastries have kept me coming back since day one. 

My personal favorite? Bound’s Iced Vanilla Bean Latte is one unlike any I've had before. It’s the perfect amount of sweet and creamy while still maintaining that great coffee flavor. Personally, I like to pair it with their chocolate chip banana bread to make for a perfect start to my day at the office. Their Salted Caramel Latte comes in as a close second on my favorites list and I can say, both are a great choice for an early morning dose of caffeination. 

Fun Fact

Bound Coffee Company was created by husband and wife duo - Ryan and Maria. The two met through coffee back in 2016 and after years of working with coffee, they fell in love with the process and have stayed connected with the community that they help bring together through coffee and tea.

Baba Coffee

I may be a bit biased with the next pick due to its location. It’s right across the street from my favorite local boutique…. The Beachly Boutique of course! Besides its stellar location, Baba is also one of my favorite spots to grab a seat, break out my laptop, and get some work done while looking out onto the bustling and buzzing State Street in Carlsbad.

My go-to order for Baba? This is where I go for a real treat - their Caramel Macadamia Cold Brew. Not only does the drink pack a punch for those particularly sluggish mornings, but the macadamia milk adds another layer of flavor that you can’t get at many other coffee shops. I must say, the Baba Coffee staff is always a pleasure to mingle with, too. No matter what time of day, they’re bright, cheery, and ready to offer any four-legged friend some treats also!

Lofty Coffee

If you’ve ever walked by Lofty Coffee in Carlsbad, odds are you’ve spotted the Beachly CEO out on the patio either in a meeting or deep in his emails. I must say, I’m quite the fan myself. Not only do they have delicious coffees and one of my favorite teas in town, but they also offer a fantastic food menu. Their açai bowl? It's to die for! 

If you’re not much of a coffee drinker, I would say this is the place for you. They have a Blood Orange Creamsicle tea that's sweet, creamy, and oh-so refreshing after a long beach day. 

Next time you’re in the area, stop by! Odds are you’ll catch someone on the Beachly team grabbing a tasty treat.

Lofty Coffee has many other locations also! There’s one in Encinitas, Solana Beach, Little Italy, and La Costa! Enough Lofty locations for everyone in all of San Diego.
