Sun Care and Skin Cancer Awareness | Beachly Beauty
Aloha sunshines! Did you know May is skin cancer awareness month? With over 5 million cases diagnosed in the United States each year, skin cancer is America's most common cancer. The good news? It's one of the most preventable cancers! As a lover of all things beach - I know how important sun care is in my daily routine. And with skin cancer awareness being top of mind in the month of May, I wanted to do some research and bring the Beachly Tribe some go-to tips, tricks, and education around unprotected sun exposure and how you can prevent your skin from sun damage.
How can you help?
Speak out and stand up against skin cancer! Sharing facts, doing regular skin checks, and always practicing pre and post sun care. You can check out this blog post created by skincancer.org to learn more about how you can get involved with skin cancer awareness month.
Let's start with the basics
The best way to get started with skin cancer awareness and sun damage prevention is by starting with the basics! A little bit of education and some go-to tips are an easy way to make sun care a main part of your beauty and beach day routine.
Did you know?
Unprotected skin can be damaged by the sun's UV rays in as little as 15 minutes. Even if it looks cloudy and overcast outside, your skin still needs UV ray protection.
Getting started with sun care can be simple - a great SPF, staying in the shade, and wearing protective clothing are three ways to incorporate skin cancer prevention into your every day. And if you plan on making a splash seaside or at the pool, don't forget to reapply your sunscreen at least every two hours!
